Planets

I have had exactly the right amount
For once.
I thought it wasn’t enough,
But it was.
I just have eyes bigger than tummy,
Eyes bigger than head.
Head bigger than body,
I thought it was too late
to get to know the dead.
The people who had loved me
When I was too young
To love anyone but myself.
I was covered in chiffon,
The insect queen
And toad charmer.
I did not know who they were.
Now I find them blinding.
They are the size of planets in my experience.
Constant like evening clouds.
Distant as ashes.
As blessed as wheelbarrows.
Longed for like home.

Once I had too much.

It was taken in increments.
